Underfloor Heating Mat 200w/m2
Underfloor Heating Mat 200w is the perfect solution when looking for a primary heat source under the floor. They are the professional’s choice under Tiles or Natural Stone, although can be installed under other floor types, when embedded in a latex/
self-levelling compound.
At only
2mm thickness, they are the lowest profile heating element on the market. The mats can easily be installed in most areas or environments, with the heating element attached to a self-adhesive mesh for ease of installation. In smaller or more awkward-shaped rooms,
loose cable may be a better option, recommended in small WCs, Bathrooms or Wet Rooms, as it offers wall to wall heating. We hold the widest range of heat mats and loose wire cables in the UK.
Rated at 200w, the heat mats are available in a variety of sqm sizes. Our largest 200w mat is 12sqm, supplied as a continuous mat – 0.5m in width x 24m in length.
Please note: Multiple mats can be used to cover the heated area. On larger rooms/zones, additional thermostats or a
25amp or
40amp relays can be installed
(dependent on electrical load/heated area).
Highly Recommended With This System: XPS Insulation Boards,
Tile Backer Board Insulation,
Rapid Set Adhesive,
Self Leveling CompoundInstallation
The heat mats can be laid directly onto a stable wood or concrete floor. To add efficiency and the response, we highly recommend insulation be fixed directly on top of the sub-floor, before the installation of the
under floor heating. The importance of the
insulation, should not be underestimated. It plays an integral part in the complete underfloor heating kit. Insulating directly beneath the heat mats drastically reduces running costs and warm-up time. For new builds, extensions or old problematic floors, we also offer a range of
decoupling membranes.Under Tiles or Stone flooring,
XPS,
Tile backer thermal boards and floor Tiles should be fixed with a
flexible adhesive. We also supply a two-part specialist
self-levelling compound, that can be used to embed the heating before the flooring is installed. Only a
3mm depth of self-level or adhesive is required to embed the heating, before Tiling.
The
R-Mats and
R-Cabs, can also be laid under LVT, Karndean or carpet, when embedded in a
10-12mm depth latex/self-levelling compound.
Electric v Water – What is the difference?
The common misconception we hear is that electric underfloor heating is far more expensive than its water/gas counterparts. In truth, electric heating is super efficient and reliable, when controlled correctly and installed directly on
thermal boards. Unlike water-based heating, which is regulated off an air sensor, electric heating should always be controlled from the
floor sensor. This enables the heating to be far more efficient and responsive, heating the floor far quicker than the more expensive and unreliable underfloor water heating.
The main benefit of electric underfloor heating is that there are no unsightly radiators required in most instances. The heat mats can be used as a comfort heat source, taking the chill off the floor in the colder months. Alternatively, when covering over 80% of the floor, the heating can also be used as a secondary or primary heat source.
